Painting from the Tomb of Sennefer, Mayor of the Southern City – Reign of Amenhotep II, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty - Theban Tomb 96, Western Thebes, Sheikh Abd el-Qurna - Sennefer is receiving a cup from his wife Meryt who stands facing him. He wears a white kilt and a pinkish top with short sleeves, a collar and round earrings. Men in ancient Egypt often wore earrings. His beloved wife Meryt who is designated as the ‘Lady of the House’ wears a long wig and a sleeveless dress. While offering a cup to her husband, she is touching his arm tenderly.
