Broad collar - New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty – From Western Thebes, Valley of the Kings, Tomb 55 – Cairo, Egyptian Museum - This broad collar was found around the neck of the mummy in the Amarna period tomb KV 55. The necklace is composed of gold pendants, in the form of lotus and poppy, and inlaid plaques. The endings are large golden lotus flowers inlaid with blue paste. The Lotus, a symbol of rebirth, was a very popular decorative motif in all ancient Egyptian periods.
