Relief in the Temple of Hatshepsut, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty – Western Thebes, Deir el-Bahri - This type of fish has an elongated body with a sword-and arrow-shaped snout. The first and second dorsal fins are triangular, while it has a deep and narrow tail. All swordfish with a snout are representatives of the family Xiphias gladius (swordfish). Sometimes the sword reaches up to 1/3 of the body. The back and anal fins are uniform when young and split in two in adults.
