A bronze figurine of the hippopotamus goddess Taweret found recently in the SCA excavations at Dra Abu’l Naga. Traces of gold can be seen on the head, showing that this would have been a valuable object to the tomb owner. Taweret was a goddess of the house and of childbirth in ancient Egypt. (Photo: SCA)
