I want to tell you something very touching that happened on my birthday. Omar Sharif had organised a dinner party for me in Cairo the night before my birthday; shortly before midnight a birthday cake was brought in, covered in candles, and everyone was happy. Then Omar Sharif said that he wanted to give his present to me – he sang happy birthday in the same way that Marilyn Monroe sang to Jack Kennedy! It was amazing. If I had closed my eyes I wouldn’t even have known it was Omar Sharif, he really sang like her. Everyone was touched, and applauded.

Later, on April 9^th, the night before Omar Sharif’s birthday I organised a party for him at an Italian restaurant in Cairo, and I sang happy birthday to him, but not like Marilyn Monroe...
