People often ask me, ‘well, it’s not really as exciting as Indiana Jones, now is it?’
I reply, ‘to an archaeologist, yes, it certainly is!’

President Obama in his Replica Dr. Hawass Hat
When President Obama and I were in the Khufu Boat Museum, I gave him this replica of my lucky hat. He thought it would not fit his head, because he says he has a very large head, but when he put it on, we saw that it fit him perfectly. Then I told him how the hat has a noble purpose, which is to raise money for the redevelopment of the Suzanne Mubarak Children’s Museum in Cairo. I truly enjoyed spending time with this great man and I am glad we shared this fun moment at Giza.
