Caroline is a young Egyptian student who entered a Science Fair competition at an American school in Cairo. Every year the students choose a problem in Egypt and try to create a new solution for it. Caroline decided to tackle the problem of a kind of bacteria that causes stomach cancer by using DNA to find the source and stop it. Her project was awarded third place in Egypt and chosen to go on to America, where it will be displayed in Texas and San Jose, California. She came to meet me in my office the other day to tell me about her project, as she is a fan of mine. I am very proud of her for her hard work, and I hope she will represent Egypt well at the science competition in America. (Photo: Jennifer Willoughby)
