A Middle Kingdom tomb at the site of Beni Hassan, in Middle Egypt. First recorded by Percy Newberry and George Fraser in 1890-1891, a group of large rock-cut tombs at this site are notable for their extraordinary decoration. Scenes in these tombs include idealized illustrations of everyday life, as well as depictions of Near Eastern peoples coming to Egypt. (photo: Ken Garrett)
