I am presently midway through a lecture tour of the United States, having visited Minneapolis and Cincinnati. I have found the enthusiasm of attendees and interest in my country particularly gratifying. Audiences, of all ages, are eager to hear about the revolution and Egyptian heritage. It has been a pleasure to meet people personally and hear what positive and inspirational thoughts they have about my country.
People can rest assured that Egypt is a safe place to visit. The Egyptian government is working hard to protect Egypt and all who visit it. Sites and museums across the country are preparing to welcome back visitors from abroad, ready to promote new, exciting developments and archaeological discoveries.
In addition to lecturing, I am hosting several press conferences and giving TV, radio, and newspaper interviews. I have so far talked to Fox 19 TV, 700WLW-AM – the number 1 talk show radio station in Cincinnati, Twin Cities Pioneer Press and Star Tribune Newspaper.
To people in Egypt, I would like to say that we are starting a new chapter in our history. The revolution revealed a passion for change and the ability to change. I believe we should now work together to create a legacy we can all be proud of. It is not a time to focus on negative or misleading reports, but to embrace a promising future and restore confidence in all visitors.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people who have been involved so far and for the warm welcome I have received in both cities. I am now looking forward to speaking at LACMA in Los Angeles today, at Bowers Museum in Santa Ana tomorrow, and at the Nevada Musuem of Art in Reno on June 17th.
