Press Release - Feasibility Study for First Underwater Museum of Egyptian Antiquities

A mission from the European Institute for Underwater Archaeology is currently carrying out a feasibility study to examine the best procedures for the construction of the first underwater museum for Egyptian antiquities on the Mediterranean coast at Alexandria. Dr. Zahi Hawass, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) said that the study is being carried out under the supervision of UNESCO, who early last month chose a design proposed by French architect Jacques Rougerie for the planned museum building.
