What is important to me is that I have the great good fortune to spend my days doing something I love, and being given the opportunity to make a difference in the world.

Press Release - Collection of Artifacts to Return to Egypt

Egypt will restitute a collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts in June 2010, the collection is now in the custody of the Homeland Security Office on Long Island, near New York City.

Dr. Zahi Hawass, Secretary General of the Supreme Council Antiquities (SCA), added that these artifacts will be handed over to Egypt immediately after the completion of legal measures. The collection, which has artifacts dating back to 3000 BC, also includes a great collection of painted sarcophagi, clay pots and coffins.

Hawass has prepared a detailed report describing the objects and the story behind recovering them, which has revealed the identity of the antiquities smugglers in Egypt and abroad. This report will be presented to Farouk Hosni, Egypt’s Minister of Culture.

Hawass also announced that in April Egypt will retrieve a very important ancient Coptic manuscript related to Judas, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus. This manuscript reveals detailed historical information about Jesus.
