An Interview with Thailand's Channel 9

A TV crew from Thailand’s Channel 9 came to my office today to interview me for “The   Surivipa Show.” The Thai ambassador, Mr. Noppadan Theppitak, is a good friend of mine, and I was very happy that he came along with the Channel 9 team.

The host of the show, Miss Surivipa Kultungwattan, and former Thai senator Mr. Dumrong Poottan talked with me about my adventures. I told them about my work to identify the family of King Tutankhamun by using state-of-the-art forensic techniques. I also shared some stories about times when people have said that I was under the so-called “curse of the pharaohs,” although in reality, of course, there is no such thing.

The Channel 9 crew and I had a few good laughs together. I will be visiting Bahariya oasis tomorrow, and to get there I will have to leave at 5AM by car. Senator Poottan suggested that the Egyptian government give me a helicopter, but I told him that I am not an important enough official for that, and everyone seemed amused! I also told Miss Kultungwattan and Senator Poottan how much I love Thai food, and they were amazed that I can tolerate the spice! I have visited Thailand before, and found it to be a beautiful place. I also admire the crown princess, Her Highness Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, very much - I have written about my meetings with her before. The episode of the Surivipa Show about Egypt will air in mid-March. I hope that if any of my friends in Thailand read this, they will tune in to see my interview!
