Today marks the last day in filming an episode about King Tut with Roberto Jacobo and his Italian team for a program called Freedom in Rome, seen by 6 million.

Dr. Zahi Hawass paid a visit to the newly inaugurated traveling exhibition “Ramses and the Pharaohs’ Gold” currently taking place at the De Young Museum in San Francisco. The lecture was attended by hundreds of visitors who gathered to hear all about the recent discoveries, Dr. Hawass’ take on the exhibition and his efforts to repatriate ancient Egyptian artifacts that have been captured by foreign colonial powers in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Zahi Hawass gave his traditional yearly lecture and book signing event at the Public Library of Bowling Green for the 6th year. His lectures there were on hold for the last two years because of the COVID pandemic. Hundreds of people gathered to hear all about the most recent discoveries in Egypt, and Dr. Hawass’ quest to repatriate the Rosetta Stone.

Dr. Hawass traveled to Germany this week and inaugurated his lecture series in Berlin. His lecture was organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Egyptian Embassy in Germany, under the auspices of Ambassador Khaled Galal Abdelhamid. Architecture students from Egypt volunteered to help with the organization of the event.

Then, Dr. Hawass gave another lecture in Munich, also organized by the Egyptian Ambassador Abdelhamid, and the Tourism Attaché Mohammed Farag.

Today the mayor Gulia de Santis, of the famous city Montefiascone, held a very important event in cooperation with the Lions Club. They presented the key to the city and they gave honors to Dr. Hawass. After the ceremony, Dr. Hawass gave a speech talking about the search for the tomb of Imhotep, the search for the mummies of Nefertiti and Ankhesenamun, the discovery of the Golden City and the restoration of the tomb of Ramesses II. After that, the mayor Gulia chose about forty intellectuals from the city and held a very nice dinner in Dr. Hawass’ honor. Gulia is the youngest mayor in Italy at 34 years old and she is a very popular mayor.

Dr. Zahi Hawass visited some of the most important archaeological sites at Saudi Arabia, including Jabal Umm Sinman at Jubbah, a World Heritage Site. It is a magnificent rock art site and contains some of the earliest Thamudian writings etched on the cliffs, in addition to Neolithic rock art. The one-week visit included a meeting with Prince Sultan bin Salman Al Saud, and a tour with Dr. Jasir Al-Herbish the CEO of the Saudi Heritage Commission, which is directed by Prince Badr bin Farhan Al Saud, the Saudi Minister of Culture, and Dr. Abdalla Almuneef, the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Antiquities in King Saud University.
